Python Fundamentals
Practical Python for people who do real work with data — finance, marketing, and operations professionals tired of rebuilding the same spreadsheet report every month.
You'll go from writing your first line of Python to automating the repetitive parts of your job: calculations, data cleaning, report generation, simple decision tools — the work currently eating hours out of your week. By the end, you'll take a messy data file, clean it, process it, and produce a usable result without copying a single formula across 40 rows by hand.
Taught by Jon Scheele, drawing on 20+ years building software and data systems. No prior coding experience required — just a willingness to learn and a web browser. This course stands on its own; if you choose to go further, it also prepares you for NTU PACE's Applied Data Science Professional Certificate, but that's a bonus, not the point.
Delivery model: Six original university-produced videos cover applied thinking and decision-making. Seven curated public videos demonstrate syntax with live code. Six reading units provide the syntax reference you will return to throughout your studies.
- ✅ 6 original videos (Jon Scheele, NTU PACE)
- ✅ 7 curated tutorials (Corey Schafer, freeCodeCamp)
- ✅ 6 reading units with W3Schools references
- ✅ 6 exercise sets with automated grading (pytest)
